Shaken Not Stirred (20th July)

Parky Players presents –

Shaken Not Stirred

Part of Birmingham Fest 2024 –

A cocktail of fast-moving, irreverent comedy and music, with a sprinkling of Bond on top (just where he likes it), you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you might even learn something. 00-Agents, film enthusiasts and blue badge holders welcome. “We’ll be expecting you!”

The new variety show Shaken Not Stirred (written and performed by a small group of Parkinson’s sufferers and supporters) is raising awareness of Parkinson’s through comedy theatre and music.

Janet Shipton was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2018 and formed a theatre group “Parky Players” during lockdown to raise awareness of the misunderstood condition. They’ve gone from creating an award-winning online pantomime to developing it into a UK tour and 3 performances at Edinburgh Fringe 2022. Since then they’ve won the 2023 world Parkinson’s Congress song competition and performed (the song they wrote) in Barcelona in front of 2000 people. https://youtu.be/cFjrVrpB6kk?si=ZiyrSsUYEeMfw2QP

The new show demonstrates a development in confidence in both the Parky Player’s writing and performance skills. Featuring villains and heroes, and of course 007 himself, it’s suitable and relevant for those with or without any connection to Parkinson’s.
