Acting Level 1

Time: Wednesday evenings 7.00pm – 9.00pm

Date: Term 1 – Wednesday 16th September – Wednesday 25th November (no session on 4th November)

Term 2 – Wednesday 13th January – Wednesday 16th March

Term 3 – Wednesday 20th April – Wednesday 22nd June

(This is a three-term course although newcomers are very welcome to join at the start of any term.)

Cost: £100 per term (10 Sessions)

The introduction to acting course offers a thorough, practical introduction to acting in an enjoyable and supportive environment. Each class provides the opportunity to develop new acting skills, meet and work with like-minded people and – more importantly – have fun! The classes are ideal for those with little or no acting experience, providing the chance to explore acting techniques in a playful and practical way while learning to be part of an ensemble.

The course will be led by our expert facilitators who have a vast amount of professional experience within the industry. They will support you in your learning experience in order to develop your skills in a way that best suits you.

If you haven’t been on stage since school or have always held a secret dramatic desire, this course is the perfect place for you to give acting a whirl.

Topics covered generally include:

  • Using environment, character and objectives to explore text.
  • Freeing emotion and finding connection with other actors.
  • Exploring the use of the voice and body in acting.
  • Finding the playfulness and fun in performing.
  • Building confidence for performance.
  • Rehearsing a scene from a play.
  • Being truthful in imaginary circumstances.
  • You will receive constructive feedback throughout.

NEW! Acting Level 1 Taster Workshop

Date: Saturday 3rd September 2016

Time: 11.00am – 3.00pm

Cost: £25

If you’ve ever wanted to try acting, our one-day workshop is the perfect place to start!

The Introduction to Acting Workshop offers a thorough, practical introduction to acting in an enjoyable and supportive environment, providing the opportunity to develop new acting skills, meet and work with like-minded people and – more importantly – have fun!

The workshop will be led by an expert facilitator who has a vast amount of experience within the industry.

If you haven’t been on stage since school or have always held a secret desire, this is the perfect place for you to give acting a whirl.

This workshop is designed to be an introduction to the full-length Acting Level 1 course and participants will have the opportunity to transfer to the 10-week course for the reduced price of £75 after completing the workshop.

Acting Level 2 

Time: Monday evenings 8.45pm – 10.15pm

Date: Term 1 – Monday 14th September – Monday 23rd November (no session on 26th October)

Term 2 – Monday 11th January – Monday 14th March

Term 3 – Monday 18th April – Monday 27th June

Cost: £100 per term (11 Sessions)

Course Requirements: Participants must have completed Acting Level 1 or equivalent. Please contact us if uncertain.

Participants must be over 18 years of age. For those under 18, please see our youth theatre page.

Over the duration of the year, the course will cover the following practitioners and their methods of working:

  • Stanislavski
  • Brecht
  • Shakespeare

Each term will culminate in a sharing, with the final term concluding with a production in the theatre.
